Summer Schedule and Fees 2010
Please note that all trainees are to be delivered to and picked up from a single drop-off point in Toronto near our workshop (Brig House). All trainees that intend to not use the bus service must indicate this on their application, and should check in with the office 24 hours prior to pickup or drop-off to ensure the planned vessel location has not changed. All transportation to and from Toronto is included in the price of the course.

To apply please fill out the linked application form. Mail or fax to the office with your deposit and you will receive confirmation of your booking shortly thereafter. Once bussing schedules have been verified (early May) you will receive a booking package in the mail that will include a trainee handbook, a list of what to bring, and where to go.
COURSE #1: Explore Eastern Lake Ontario (Toronto, ON to Toronto, ON)
Leave Toronto for a very scenic sail along the northern shore of Lake Ontario. Explore the small harbours along the way. After 3 days sailing east with the winds, return to Toronto in time to participate in the Redpath Toronto Waterfront Festival featuring Tall Ships from around the world. What a great way to start the summer.
Departing: Sunday, June 27th Arriving: Friday, July 2nd Duration: 6 Days Cost: $750
COURSE #2: Tall Ship Challenge 2010 – Leg 1 (Toronto, ON to Bay City, MI)
Participate in the Tall Ship Challenge 2010 sailing series by joining an international fleet of tall ships in Toronto and set sail for Bay City, MI. In transit navigate the locks of the Welland Canal, traverse the shallowest of the Great Lakes, Lake Erie, follow the Great Lake water system north through Lake St. Clair and emerge into beautiful Lake Huron. Hugging the west shore finally arrive with the rest of the tall ship fleet in Bay City. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the lower Great Lakes, navigate one of the world’s most significant shared international waterways and participate in an international sailing event.
Departing: Monday, July 5th Arriving: Friday, July 16th Duration: 12 days Cost: $ 1450
COURSE #3: The North Channel and Georgian Bay (Bay City, MI to Parry Sound, ON)
Departing Bay City with the International Tall Ship Fleet, sail up Lake Huron to the western entrance of the North Channel. Traverse the entire North Channel (one of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world) following the prevailing winds, stopping along the way to explore the many islands, beaches and coves. Finally exit through the eastern entrance and cruise down scenic Georgian Bay to Parry Sound. Amazing does not even begin to describe this Tall Ship Adventure.
Departing: Saturday, July 17th Arriving: Thursday, July 29th Duration: 13 days Cost: $1560
COURSE #4: Southern Georgian Bay and the Bruce Peninsula (Parry Sound to Owen Sound)
Departing scenic Parry Sound, explore the beautiful eastern shore of Georgian Bay. Visit some of the many beautiful islands, beaches and inlets that the bay is famous for and take a swim off the ship. Sail past Red Rock and find out why it got its name. Finally traverse Georgian Bay and return to picturesque Owen Sound, home of Billy Bishop, on the western side.

COURSE #5: The North Channel Take Two (Owen Sound to Tobermory, ON)
Let the winds take you to one of the greatest cruising grounds in the world. Sail from Owen Sound north to the eastern entrance of the North Channel. Explore the eastern end of the Channel, eat fresh fish and chips in Killarney, enjoy delicious ice cream in Little Current and swim under Bridal Falls. After leaving the North Channel sail through the islands of Fathom Five National Park on your way to scenic Tobermory at the top of the Bruce Peninsula, home of the Che-Cheemaun Ferry.

COURSE #6: Chicago Bound – Rejoin the Tall Ship Challenge Fleet (Tobermory to Chicago, IL)
Departing scenic Tobermory at the top of the Bruce Peninsula, head west past historic Mackinaw Island, through the narrows connecting Lakes Michigan and Huron, and sail into the beautiful waters of northern Lake Michigan. Explore the many islands and coves in this area before reaching down the entire length of the lake to the windy city, Chicago. Join the rest of the Tall Ship Fleet in Chicago for the largest Tall Ship festival on the Great Lakes at historic Navy Pier. This is a unique opportunity to explore the “Upper Great Lakes” and visit Toronto’s exciting “sister city” on the Great Lakes, Chicago.

COURSE #7 – Homeward Bound (Chicago, IL to Goderich, ON)
Summer is not over. Late August offers some of the best sailing weather of the season. Sail with the tall ship fleet from Chicago as they head out of the Great Lakes to other ports around the world. Reach up beautiful Lake Michigan, enjoying the islands along the way, traverse the narrows between Lakes Michigan and Huron and sail across Lake Huron, finally arriving in historic Goderich, once a key port on the Great Lakes.
Departing: Sunday, August 29th Arriving: Sunday, September 5th Duration: 8 days Cost: $1,000
COURSE #8 – Open Cruise for Adult/Alumni (Goderich to Toronto, ON)
Sail three of the Great Lakes with the wind at your back. Traverse Lake St Clair on your way from Lake Huron to Lake Erie, run the entire length of Lake Erie and enter the Welland Canal, stopover in historic Niagara on the Lake (time permitting) before making your final crossing of Lake Ontario to Toronto. This is a great opportunity for those who have never sailed a Tall Ship or the Great Lake System to experience both in one week. For alumni it is an opportunity to get reacquainted with the thrills and adventure of sailing on the vessels. Arrange a group of 12-15 and charter the entire vessel.
Departing: Saturday, Sept 11th Arriving: Sunday, Sept 19th Duration 9 days Cost: $1125, alumni $400

NOTES TO SAILING SCHEDULE:
- 1. Payment Terms: 50%due upon booking and 50% due May 31st.
- 2. A full refund (less an admin charge of $100) will be provided for cancellations received prior to May 1st, 2010
- 3. AFTER MAY 1ST 2010, A FULL REFUND (LESS A $100 ADMINISTRATION FEE) WILL ONLY BE PROVIDED FOR CANCELLATIONS DUE TO HEALTH OR MEDICAL REASONS (A PHYSICIANS CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED).
- 4. IF TORONTO BRIGANTINE SHOULD CANCEL A COURSE FOR ANY REASON (WEATHER, UNFORESEEN PROBLEMS, LACK OF ENROLMENT, ETC.), A FULL REFUND WILL BE PROVIDED.

We have an extensive bursary (scholarship) program for those unable to pay full course fees. Please fill out the linked bursary application and mail or fax to the office for assessment.
NOTE – Pick Up – PLACE & TIME
All courses return to Toronto and the pick-up location is at the parking lot located at the west end of Marina Quay West, 539 Queen’s Quay West, half way between Spadina Ave. and Bathurst St. See Map 1.
Your youth will be transported by bus from destinations outside of Toronto so delays in arrival time are possible

You can drive or take the TTC to the meeting place. Below are the TTC streetcar route maps from Union Station and Spadina Station.
To access the parking lot you must be travelling east on Queen’s Quay West from Bathurst Street. Turn right toward the underground parking lot after you pass the Harbourfront Community Centre and the first harbour slip.
